A SHAPELY NOSE: Rhinoplasty

What is Rhinoplasty? What Conditions Can Be Treated?

The surgery sculpts the nose, the most prominent feature on your face, to blend harmoniously with the rest of the face. Using either hidden, endoscopic, or external incisions, the surgery reconstructs and reshapes nasal cartilages, bones, and/or implants. The surgery can take one to three hours in a surgery center. Many procedures may need only local anesthesia, whereas some require general anesthesia. Most conditions of nasal shapes can be sculpted, ranging from reduction, augmentation, rotation, projection, widening, narrowing, or lengthening. In addition, nasal allergy and sinus conditions can be improved as well.

When and What Result Might Be Expected? How long does the result last?
Immediate modest to dramatic improvement and refinement may be expected. Results usually last decades.

What is the recovery like? When can I return to work and activities?
Recovery usually takes one week. Some swelling and mild bruising is expected.

Postoperative cold compresses, anti-bruising medicine, drops, and ointments are often helpful. Use of prescribed pain medicine usually does not exceed one or two days. Make-up can be applied within one week. Most patients return to work and regular activities in one week.

Any treatments to help maintain or enhance my results?
Minor adjustments, maintenance, or further enhancements can often be done non-surgically with procedures such as the RhinoLiftSM procedure. More extensive changes may require further surgical shaping.
